46 Part 2 Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, Hippopotamus and Leopard Singita, Private Game Reserve Adjacent to Kruger National Park Republic of South Africa |
||
Singita is all about
the animals. There are two things that make the Singita experience unique.
First, is that there are no fences between this game reserve and maybe
a a dozen others including the Kruger National Park. There is an electrified
fence around all those combined properties whose purpose is to keep both
the animals in and the poachers out. Within this area hunting has been
outlawed for more than 40 years. For this reason the animal population,
although always on a daily migration, has become abundant. Second, the
fact that rangers and trackers have been riding around in green Land Rover's
for the past 40 years has created a situation where the animals are now
habituated to their presence. This allows for people in the Land Rovers
to follow within only a few feet of wild animals for long durations without
them being spooked. On many occasions we got closer to lions than you
could have gotten to a strange house cat without any difficulty. There
is no commentary for the next few pages has the pictures say it all. |
